Dear Editor,
With regard to the article “Why Ukraine’s Eurovision song contest is in crisis” (February, 19) I would like to assure you that all necessary steps to ensure a successful conduct of the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine are being taken by the Ukrainian side and nothing threatens it.
The resignation of some members of the Eurovision core team will not have negative impact on the preparations for the competition. On February, 16 at the media briefing the organizers of Eurovision Song Contest confirmed that the process goes on properly and in the right direction.
Hosting the Eurovision is a challenge for any broadcaster and it’s not exception for my country, where significant internal reforms are being implemented under the conditions of the Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine and occupation of Crimea. Despite those obstacles the Government of Ukraine plans to launch soon public broadcasting in our country.
I would like to invite you and “The Economist” readers to visit Ukraine in May when we will host one of the most popular musician show in Europe. We are proud that through the history of this competition two Ukrainians became winners of this prestigious contest.
