On 20 November 2015 Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Natalia Galibarenko presented her credentials as Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu.
During the meeting, which took place at IMO headquarters, Natalia Galibarenko informed Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu about her priorities as newly appointed Permanent Representative.
“Defending territorial integrity of Ukraine is a key foreign policy objective. In my role as Permanent Representative I will take all measures to counter attempts by the Russian Federation of illegal annexation of seaports in the Crimea, territorial waters and exclusive economic zone of Ukraine in the Black and Azov Seas”, the Ambassador of Ukraine emphasized.
International Maritime Organisation (ІМО) is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships. Ukraine has been a Member of IMO since 1994.
