Charge d'Affaires Ihor Kyzym spoke about the importance of this date for Ukrainians:  "Two years ago students began a peaceful protest in the name of democratic values in Kyiv, which led to the overthrow of the corrupt regime of Yanukovych. These events changed Ukraine and Ukrainians forever. On this day we celebrate the Day of Dignity and Freedom. "

The diplomat stressed that, Ukraine will not turn from the path of upholding European values - freedom and dignity for which the Ukrainian people paid an incredibly high price.

"The heroes sacrificed their lives to defend Ukraine during the Revolution of Dignity. Thanks to them we got the chance to change the country for the better and we cannot lose this chance," said Ihor Kyzym.

The Head of the London branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain Volodymyr Pawluk congratulated guests of the Club with the Day of Dignity and Freedom.

After watching the film all the participants honored the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes who sacrificed their lifes in the course of the Revolution of Dignity for a minute of silence.

Guests also had an opportunity to talk to the director of the film Evgeny Afineevsky and composer Jasha Klebe.

Evgeny Afineevsky shared his experience and memories of Euromaidan and Revolution Dignity in Ukraine, that inspired the director to tell this story to the world: “Everyone who was on the Maidan, were heroes, and I was just honored to be among them, and bring unique history of these people the whole world”.

The world premiere of the film "The Winter on Fire: The fight for the freedom of Ukraine" was held on the 2rd of September 2015 at the Venice Film Festival. Also, the film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015, where he received the audience prize for best documentary.
