Check whether your passport meets validity requirements.
If you don’t need a visa to travel to Ukraine your passport should be valid on the day you enter Ukraine.
If you require visa to travel to Ukraine your passport should be valid at least 3 months after the date of intended departure from Ukraine and be issued no more than 10 years ago.
Whether you need visa or not, make sure you have a proof of sufficient funds when entering Ukraine.
Starting from 01 February 2014 Ukraine’s Border Guard Service officers may randomly ask foreigners entering Ukraine to demonstrate proof of sufficient funds when going through border control. Foreigners are required to have access to at least 20 days’ worth of average monthly per capita subsistence minimums to their arrival date + 5 days’ reserve.
The exact amount of money any foreigner should be able to prove to have access to when entering Ukraine is calculated according to the relevant Rules (full text is available at Ukraine’s Parliament website at http://zakon4.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/884-2013-%D0%BF in Ukrainian).
The overall daily amount in Ukrainian hryvnia rates at around £30.00.
Ukraine’s authorities accept the following as a proof of sufficient funds:
cash in Ukrainian hryvnia / other convertible currency
international pay system cards along with current/savings account balance statements provided the bank cards can be cashed in Ukrainian banks
hotel / accommodation booking
an agreement between travel agency and client
a letter from an inviting person/entity - sponsor confirming all expenses a foreigner might face in Ukraine and when leaving Ukraine will be covered
a return / transit ticket
Please note!
No proof of funds is required for:
- foreigners / stateless persons who permanently reside in Ukraine
- foreigners / stateless persons under 18
- tourists on a cruise
- foreign aircrew/warship crew members entering/going through Ukraine’s territory in transit in lines with established regulations
- non-military vessel crew personnel
- non-military international airlines / international connection trains crew residing within airports or train stations facilities
- heads of foreign states and governments, members of parliamentary or governmental delegations, technical staff following such delegations, as well as their family members, travelling to Ukraine upon invitation of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament), the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine or Ukraine’s ministries/other central executive authorities
- UN and UN institutions ID holders and members of their families
- Heads of foreign diplomatic and consular missions, their diplomatic, consular, administrative and technical staff, military attachés and trade missions staff as well as their dependants (spouses, children and parents)
- diplomatic and service passport holders employed at their countries’ foreign affairs authorities visiting Ukraine with official purpose and members of their families
- international organisations officials visiting Ukraine with official purpose, their offices/branches’ in Ukraine staff members, staff members of their states’ representatives to international organisations headquartered in Ukraine who are covered with diplomatic privileges and immunities as well as their families’ members
Ukrainian visas are issued through online system "Visa".

You’ll need to select your current citizenship, the purpose of your trip to Ukraine, a country where you wish to apply for your visa as well as Ukraine’s consular office which will be processing your application (Ukraine has 2 consular offices in the UK, if you intend to apply through the Embassy in London please choose the “Embassy of Ukraine in the UK” option from the menu).
The website will then let you fill in the application form and book your appointment with us. Please make sure that you fill in all lines, upload your photo and save your application (i.e. complete your registration), as applications saved as drafts cannot be processed.
After you have completed your registration you’re welcome to call by the Consular Section on your chosen date and time.
Please have with you printed and signed application form, your passport, 2 photos and your supporting documents. You’ll be able to choose the type of service (regular or expedited) and pay the visa fee on the day of your visit.
Visa applications of children should be accompanied by the other parent / carer’s written and duly certified consent for the child’s visa and travel to Ukraine at all times unless both parents/carers and their children apply all together.
Please note that according to Ukraine’s visa rules foreigners / stateless persons can apply for their Ukrainian visa no earlier than 3 months before the intended date of entry to Ukraine.
All visa applications are processed by the Embassy’s Consular Section in 10 working days excluding the day of application (regular service) or 3 working days (expedited service).
Processing of visa applications submitted within regular service can be extended for up to 30 working days.

Transit visas are issued as single / double / multiple entry visas for a period of time indicated in the documents which are considered as grounds for visa application.
Ukrainian transit visas cannot be issued for more than a 1 year-term.
Every period of transit shouldn’t exceed 5 days.

Fees shown for regular service - applications are processed within 10 working days excluding the day of application.
Fees are doubled for all applications filed upon expedited service (applications are processed within 5 working days excluding the day of application).
Express service processing of a visa application can be offered upon a request of an applicant provided the expedited processing is possible.

The Embassy of Ukraine to the United Kingdom calls on all foreign nationals/stateless persons who intend to visit Crimea to keep to the new Rules on entry into and exit from Crimea which have been approved by the Ukrainian Government on 04 June 2015.
The Rules were adopted according to the Laws of Ukraine “On protection of rights and freedoms of citizens and the law regime for the Temporarily Occupied Territory of Ukraine” and “On the Free Economic Zone “Crimea””.
The new Rules set the procedure on entry into and exit from Crimea and should be followed by all foreign nationals/stateless persons.
According to the Rules foreigners/stateless persons may enter and exit Crimea through special control check-points (for automobile transport – Kalanchak, Chaplynka, Chongar; for a railway transport – Kherson, Melitopol, Vadym, Novooleksiivka) upon their passports and provided they have been issued with a special permit.
Special permits are only issued when:
1) a foreigner’s/stateless person’s family or close relatives reside in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine (relevant documents issued by competent authorities of Ukraine should be submitted);
2) a foreigner/stateless person intends to visit graves of his/her family or close relatives which are located in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine (relevant documents should be submitted);
3) in case of death of a member of a foreigner’s/stateless person’s family or death of a close relative who has resided in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine (relevant documents issued by competent authorities of Ukraine should be submitted);
4) a foreigner/stateless person has a property located in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine;
5) a foreigner/stateless person is participating in measures aimed to protect Ukraine’s national interests and the peaceful settlement of the conflict, liberation of the territory of Ukraine from occupation or for humanitarian reasons (upon consent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine);
6) a foreigner exercises diplomatic and consular functions, in particular in the frames of international organizations which Ukraine is a member of (upon consent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine);
7) a foreigner/stateless person is a railway employee and makes regular trips to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
The abovementioned circumstances should be proved by the relevant documents and submitted along with the application.
Applications for special permits are to be submitted to the regional bodies of the State Migration Service of Ukraine at the applicant’s place of residence in Ukraine and are processed within 5 working days following the date of application.
To apply for a special permit a foreigner/stateless person should submit the following documents:
- an application;
- 3 photos (3.5*4.5 cm);
- passport (to be returned);
- a valid Ukrainian visa, temporary residence permit or other document allowing a foreigner/stateless person to stay in Ukraine;
- a copy of the 1st page of the foreigner’s/stateless person’s passport (the page with the holder’s personal data) with a certified translation into Ukrainian;
- proof of circumstances of the applicant (copies of civil registry certificates, copies of the Ukrainian residence permit issued to foreigner’s family member or a close relative, documents proving the property rights, documents proving the death of a foreigner’s family member or a close relative, details on the graves location etc.);
- proof of sufficient financial funds for the intended period of stay in Ukraine or a letter of guarantee of the inviting party (except for those foreigners who are participating in measures aimed to protect Ukraine’s national interests, or exercise diplomatic and consular functions or those who are railway employees).
Special permits are granted to foreigners/stateless persons 18 and above. Data on minors is inscribed into the special permits of their parents.
Special permits are issued as a single or multiple entry documents depending on reasons for application and documents provided.
The State Migration Service leaves the right to refuse the application.

Violations of the Rules will lead to legal consequences and those responsible will face restrictions according to the Ukrainian legislation including the ban on entry into Ukraine.
