On 24 February, marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the large-scale Voices of Ukraine event became a powerful symbol of remembrance, solidarity, and support for Ukraine.
Under Ukrainian flags, the square transformed into a space of unity for people who believe in freedom and justice. Together, Ukrainians and Britons honoured the memory of those who lost their lives and reminded the world: Ukraine continues its struggle.
During the event, Ukraine’s Ambassador, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, delivered a speech. In his address, the Ambassador stressed that 24 February 2022 became the day Ukrainians chose to fight for freedom and were forever changed. He expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom and its people for supporting Ukraine and emphasised that Ukrainians have paid the highest price for a freedom that can no longer be taken away.
The event gained additional symbolism from Trafalgar Square itself — a place of historic moments and a voice of freedom — where Ukrainian songs, words of remembrance, and messages of support filled the evening air.
Ukraine stood strong.
Ukraine is fighting.
