The President instructs the Chief of the General Staff to step up the measures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to eliminate sabotage groups in connection with the shelling in Hranitne
The shelling of a Ukrainian Armed Forces' vehicle in Hranitne was an attempt to undermine the Minsk process and jeopardise the resumption of negotiations in the Normandy format. Such was the comment of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in response to the shelling that destroyed a Ukrainian Armed Forces’ vehicle. The incident occurred on 10 July at the exit from the village of Hranitne in the direction of the Hnutove security checkpoint.
"This blatant assault has clearly shown who it is that actually does not want peace in Donbas. I consider the shelling in Hranitne as an attempt to undermine the Minsk process and jeopardise the deal to resume talks in the Normandy format. Nevertheless, the expectations of the agents provocateurs will be frustrated.
Our commitment to the diplomatic solutions remains unchanged," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state instructed Chief of the General Staff - Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak to step up the measures of the Armed Forces units to detect and neutralize sabotage groups and to react immediately and rigorously to any new attempts at armed provocations against Ukrainian civilians and servicemen.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also expressed condolences to the family of the serviceman who died in the Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle and wished a quick recovery to the wounded soldier.
