UNESCO has inscribed “The Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora” on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
The decision was adopted today during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (48WHC).
“We welcome this decision. The property, located in Ukrainian Crimea, which is temporarily occupied by Russia, is under constant threat and is being damaged and ruined by Russian occupation authorities,” Ukraine’s Acting Foreign Minister stressed.
The decision also calls on the international community to strengthen cooperation to prevent the illicit trafficking of cultural property originating from temporarily occupied Crimea.
We are grateful to the members of the World Heritage Committee and UNESCO for their support for Ukraine".
