The Embassy continues to actively contribute to the implementation of the Project on preventing seafarers’ involvement in maritime crimes, protecting their right to fair treatment, which was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Marine Transport Workers’ Trade Union of Ukraine.

Specifically, on 29 March 2019, the delegation of Ukraine introduced a document on fair treatment of seafarers detained on suspicion of committing maritime crimes. Ukrainian initiative has received broad support among the representatives of IMO Member States as well as from the International Transport Workers’ Federation.
