Any documents, including certificates for the right to sail under the Russian flag, issued after 15 July 2014 by the so-called “harbour masters” of the seaports in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine are null and void, have no legal effect and, by their very nature, should be considered unlawful.
It is stated in the document submitted by Ukraine for consideration of the IMO Legal Committee in London.
In this connection, Ukrainian delegation informed IMO Member States about the fishing vessel NORD, unlawfully registered under the Russian flag in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which was detained by the Ukrainian Coast Guard in the Sea of Azov on 25 March 2018.
