Ukraine called upon IMO’s Member States not to recognize implementation of IMO conventions in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea by the Russian Federation
30 November 2017 14:48

“The Russian Federation’s claim to be responsible for implementing IMO conventions in the maritime areas appertaining to the Crimean Peninsula reflects an ongoing usurpation of Ukraine’s rights in those areas relating to maritime navigation, including the safety and security of navigation, protection of the marine environment, search and rescue, ship registration and certification of crew members, and violates international law and the legislation of Ukraine” – the information document submitted by the Ukrainian Side to the 30th session of IMO Assembly says.

The Ukrainian Side will further continue consistent work with respect to non-recognition at international level of illegal implementation of IMO conventions in the occupied territory by the Russian Federation and will draw the attention of IMO Member States to the condemnation of the Russian Federation’s unlawful unilateral actions in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol.
