At the beginning of 2017 Ukraine will begin proceedings against the Russian Federation under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea

On December 22, 2016, the Tribunal was formed following Ukraine’s claim filed against the Russian Federation under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Arbitration is due to start at the beginning of 2017.

Ukraine is ready to proof that the Russian Federation has been deliberately violating Ukraine’s sovereign rights to use its maritime area and continental shelf in the sea zones adjacent to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, including the rights for natural resources of the continental shelf.

Ukraine demands from the Russian Federation to stop violations of its rights and compensate the losses it has provoked.
