At the 8th of September General Poltorak, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, met with Mr. Michael Fallon, the State Secretary for Defence of the United Kingdom, during his official visit to the United Kingdom.
Ukraine’s Minister of Defence expressed gratitude for the UK assistance and support on counteracting Russian aggression. In particular he mentioned the work of the UK’s instructors who prepared more than 2,500 Armed Forces of Ukraine in different directions as well as support of the reform process and active work of British instructors in this process.
“We plan to boost our consultative assistance. Next year up to 5,000 Ukrainian military will be trained under NATO standards — this is a new aim of the training mission of the United Kingdom in Ukraine,” Mr. Fallon said.
During the meeting the emphasis was made on discussing areas of further cooperation in defence sector between the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
In particular, during negotiations, the parties agreed to promptly bring comprehensive support of the UK into compliance with the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
