On April 19, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Natalia Galibarenko gave a presentation on “UK-Ukraine relations: how to build up and strengthen further”.
Event was organized at the UK Parliament by the British Ukrainian Society and was attended by a numerous audience, including Members of Parliament, students, experts and media representatives.
Discussion was moderated by Lord Risby.
Ambassador focused on the role the United Kingdom is playing in helping Ukraine defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as conducting internal reforms. She pointed out that the Russian aggression against Ukraine has led to 10 000 deaths, 1,7 mln. IDPs, Ukraine has lost 20% if its industrial potential and 7% of Ukrainian territories are being temporarily occupied. It was also noted that the Russian occupying authorities in Crimea further pursue the policy of harassing and prosecuting Ukrainian patriots and Crimean Tatars, and have recently banned the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.
Natalia Galibarenko stressed on the importance to preserve the unity within the international community to force Russia to put an end to the aggression against Ukraine.
Ambassador also answered questions from the audience on Ukraine-UK cooperation in various spheres.
