On March 17, 2016 Minister of Ukraine General of the Army Stepan Poltorak and Minister of State for the UK Armed Forces Penny Mordaunt signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom for cooperation in defence sphere.

Emphasizing the importance of signing this document, Stepan Poltorak said: "Developing relations with the United Kingdom is one of the priorities for the Government of Ukraine, as it evidenced by today’s visit of the British high level delegation".

Stepan Poltorak expressed his gratitude to the British government for the assistance to Ukraine and stressed the importance of continued international support.

"In the light of Russian aggression, the United Kingdom’s assistance  is important in countering the aggressor and reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine to meet NATO standards," - he stressed.
